Clinical Practice

My clinical method with gay men ALWAYS includes the following question: how comfortable are you when you interact with other gay men?

Because of the fact that almost all of our childhoods included similar painful experiences of not fitting in with the males around us, I think this is one of the most critical questions for every gay man to answer.  The goal of my clinical work, my blog, book and my workshops are to provide gay men with strategies to increase their comfort, their security and their confidence as they interact with other gay men.  No matter the setting, age, body type or popularity of the other gay man.

I am a licensed clinical social worker and highly regarded psychotherapist in private practice with over two decades of clinical experience devoted to the health and mental health issues of gay men.  My clinical method utilizes a range of respected fields of psychology – cognitive therapy, family systems therapy, social learning theory, harm reduction – to help you improve your life.  Over the past two decades, through my therapy practice, I have become a recognized expert creating successful change for gay men with issues ranging from: substance misuse, anxiety, depression, aging, HIV, Internet misuse, body image, sexual behaviors, gay identity issues and couples counseling.

My clinical work does not only acknowledge our unique circumstances as gay men, but creates strategies that provide helpful results because of gay men’s needs.

Is understanding yourself, your history relating to males and increasing your comfort with other gay men areas where you need help?  Then please let me do my clinical best to support your process of growth.
